These molecules are able to block the action of cytokinins, and their effects may be overcome by adding more of the cytokinin. One of the most potent anticytokinins is 4-cyclobutylamino-2-methylpyrollo[2,3-d]pyrimidine. It has been however recently shown that these compounds act as inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinases. Some ring structures which can give rise to competitive inhibitory activity are derived from BAP like PI-55.
